Practical Strategies and Tips for Parenting your Neurodivergent Child

Parenting a neurodivergent child can be challenging, wonderful and at times completely overwhelming! Lhara will discuss the reality of parenting a neurodivergent child and what this really means in terms of day-to-day family life. Lhara will share practical tips and strategies which she found helpful in responding to challenging behaviour, coping with stressful social situations and making selfcare a priority. Attendees will have tangible tools and tips to take away from this session which will empower them in their parenting journey.

Bio

Dr. Lhara Mullins is a lecturer in health promotion at the University of Galway and the programme director of the BA (Hons) Social Care. Lhara is a passionate and active advocate locally and nationally for all things autism and neurodiversity related and has authored two books to date on this topic. Lhara has extensive experience in community care and in leading equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives. Lhara’s lived experience caring for 3 autistic children and as a neurodivergent person herself, fuels her motivation to explore the unique and evolving needs of children and families living with disabilities.
