This engaging conversation will delve into the artistic journey and experimental practices of Niamh Swanton, whose latest exhibition showcases her playful approach to storytelling and staged photography.
Niamh Swanton, known for her vivid exploration of memory, identity, and emotional catharsis through her work, will discuss her practice, particularly her exploration into symbolism and humour with Meadhbh McNutt, who authored the exhibition text, will lead the conversation, drawing on her intimate understanding of Niamh’s artistic process.
Expert from Meadhbh McNutt’s text:
‘The objects in this series are tied to personal memories, but I was also interested in working with a non-linear narrative. Much of my work draws from dream symbolism, where non-linearity and interpretive gaps feel natural, or perhaps even necessary. I wanted to place these objects in obscure, disjointed situations, almost like a game of Chinese whispers, where recollections shift, and parts are added or lost in the retelling’.
Don't miss this opportunity for a deeper understanding of his artistic journey and the creative processes behind ‘It’s All a Bit of Fun (Until Somebody Gets Hurt’.
